Workforce Development and Continuing Education

African-American female healthcare worker consulting with patient.
One of the features that sets Banner MD Anderson apart from other cancer care providers is our incredibly sub-specialized workforce of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, cellular therapy technicians, and disease-specific rehabilitation therapists. Continually training and developing these professionals ensures that every staff member a patient sees is up to date on the rapidly evolving world of cancer care.

Our oncology professionals continually acquire new competencies in rapidly evolving areas like precision medicine, immunotherapy, and advanced technologies like AI. This education and training occurs through a variety of professional development methods, including micro-learning, formal training through intensive study, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring, and accredited Continuing Medical Education.

Professionals across disciplines gain valuable skills and education by attending disease-specific educational conferences focusing on specialized areas such as transplantation and cellular therapy, genetic testing and counseling, biomarkers, and targeted precision medicine strategies. Additionally, Banner MD Anderson serves as host and educator for educational conferences and symposia, sharing our knowledge and discoveries to help advance the field.

Philanthropic investment supports the cost of tuition, study materials, conference registration fees and travel, removing barriers for our providers to enhance their skills and knowledge and encouraging ongoing learning among our oncology teams.
