The Board of Visitors, Arizona’s oldest women’s charitable organization, recently awarded 26 grants totaling $1,150,000, reinforcing more than a century of dedication to health care. The Phoenix-area nonprofit organizations selected for funding provide vital services to women, children, and the elderly, reflecting BOV’s mission to uplift the community through impactful giving – including Banner's BIG Pink Bus, which was awarded a generous $250,000. These funds represent the proceeds from the BOV’s 2025 Care Card program, Arizona’s largest retail fundraising event.

A program of Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Big Pink Bus is a mobile 3D mammography unit that brings life-saving breast cancer screenings to women across the Valley, especially those in underserved and outlying communities.

"We are honored to present this grant award to the Banner Health Foundation in support of The BIG Pink Bus mobile mammography unit,” says Amy Hall, Chairman of the Board of Visitors. “As Arizona's oldest women's charitable organization, our mission has always been to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women across our community. Funds raised through our 2025 Care Card program represent our commitment to breaking down barriers to breast cancer screening and bringing life-saving detection services to women who need them most. This marks our third year partnering with Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, and we're proud to see our collaboration grow stronger and more impactful with each passing year. Together, we are fulfilling a vital mission: providing comprehensive cancer care and prevention services, one screening at a time.”

“We are deeply grateful to the Board of Visitors for their extraordinary $250,000 gift through Care Card sales in support of The BIG Pink Bus,” says Myeisha Andrews, Clinical Administrative Director at Banner MD Anderson. “This generous contribution will directly sustain the dedicated team who operates the bus and expand our ability to bring lifesaving breast cancer screening services directly into communities across Maricopa County.”

The BIG Pink Bus is more than a mobile unit — it offers access, early detection and hope. “Because of this support, we are able to meet women where they are, remove barriers to care, and ensure that more individuals receive timely screenings that can save lives,” Andrews explains. “As we look ahead to 2026, this gift positions us to make an even greater impact by expanding into areas of the community that have historically been underserved and not yet reached. The Board of Visitors’ commitment strengthens our mission and advances health equity across our region. On behalf of Banner MD Anderson and Banner Health, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for this meaningful investment in our community. Together, we are changing and saving lives, one screening at time.”

The average time between screening and diagnosis can decrease from 14 days to fewer than three days as the mobile unit provides a seamless entry point to Banner MD Anderson’s nationally recognized Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program. All mammograms are interpreted by radiologists, and patients needing further treatment will have expedited access to Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center’s specialized breast oncologists and surgeons.
