This spring, the Banner Health Foundation is celebrating more than a decade of partnership with State Farm. The company has generously funded several of Banner’s community health initiatives, including Safety Town, for the past eight years. Safety Town is an interactive mobile town that covers multiple health and safety topics. Participants can stroll among colorful mini buildings and sidewalks, complete with crosswalks and traffic signals, to learn about safety through hands-on activities. Topics include water and sun safety, healthy living and handwashing, bicycle and pedestrian safety, moto vehicle safety, poison safety, gun safety, railroad safety, fire safety, animal bites, bullying and playground safety.
With State Farm’s support, Banner reaches 20,000 children annually in Safety Town visits. “For us, this means we can continue to deliver Safety Town with the utmost care and quality to our community’s elementary schools,” says Tracey Fejt, Safety Town Program Director. “Our partnership with State Farm means everything, and we could not carry this work forward without their support.”
State Farm also sent a group of employee volunteers to a Safety Town demonstration last week to help kids navigate the demonstrations.
Further proving that commitment to safety is a community effort, Banner Health had two tables at the second annual Good Neighbor Safety Fair on February 28 at State Farm Stadium. The staffed tables offered information on both Safety Town and the Banner Poison & Drug Information Center.

“At State Farm, part of our mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life. We are committed to building safer, stronger and better-educated communities," says Elyssa Tapetillo, Corporate Responsibility Analyst. "When it comes to child safety, the challenges are many, which is why community events like the Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Fair are so important. These gatherings unite organizations dedicated to protecting children, and I feel grateful to be part of that collective effort,” she continued. “We are proud to support Banner Health and the work they’re doing in safety.”
