Make an Enduring Gift for Hospice Music Therapy

Hospice Music Therapy
Your legacy gift will be matched
today, 50 cents on the dollar, and
become part of a permanent
endowment that will grow forever.

Legacy gifts are a powerful way for individuals and families to invest in the future of Arizona health care through Banner Health. A gift from your estate promised today—typically, at no cost to you—and realized after your lifetime can have a meaningful impact on programs serving future generations.

One way to make a difference today is by committing a planned gift to help build a permanent endowment to support Music Therapy for Hospice patients. Banner Health’s President & CEO, Peter S. Fine, and his wife, Rebecca Ailes-Fine, recently established the Fine Family Matching Challenge through the Banner Health Foundation. The Fines will match donor gifts, 50 cents on the dollar, to build a $1.5 million endowment that will support and sustain Banner Hospice’s Music Therapy program in perpetuity. By making an irrevocable commitment through your will, trust, charitable gift annuity, or other means, your gift will be matched today—and be part of a permanent endowment that will grow forever.

Music therapy is an evidence-based discipline that benefits patients with a wide range of conditions in all stages of life. Through activities such as lyric analysis, songwriting, playing, listening, or recall, music therapists work with patients to provide skilled, personalized care. In hospice settings, music therapy helps patients cope with their illness, decreases pain and stress, and provides a supportive tool for families and friends. For those with dementia and other cognitive disorders, music therapy has been shown to help improve focus and reduce anxiety.

“As a society, we place a great deal of emphasis on the early stages of life,” said Mr. Fine. “Rebecca and I believe it’s also important to demonstrate respect, compassion and dignity for patients and their families towards the end of life.”
