Fine, and his wife, Rebecca Ailes-Fine, recently established the Fine Family Matching Challenge through the Banner Health Foundation. The Fines will match donor gifts, 50 cents on the dollar, to build a $1.5 million endowment that will support and sustain Banner Hospice’s Music Therapy program in perpetuity. Music therapy is an evidence-based discipline that benefits patients with a wide range of conditions in all stages of life. Through activities such as lyric analysis, songwriting, playing, listening, or recall, music therapists work with patients to provide skilled, personalized care. In hospice settings, music therapy helps patients cope with their illness, decreases pain and stress, and provides a supportive tool for families and friends. For those with dementia and other cognitive disorders, music therapy has been shown to help improve focus and reduce anxiety.
