Donating Real Estate to Charity
Consider giving a gift of real estate.

Do you want to make a major gift to the Banner Health Foundation or Banner Alzheimer’s Foundation without touching your bank account? Consider giving a gift of real estate.

Donating appreciated real estate such as a home, vacation property, ranch, undeveloped land or commercial property brings value in charitable planning. You avoid paying capital gains tax on the property and unburden yourself of maintenance, property taxes and insurance costs. The gift also qualifies for a charitable tax deduction on your federal tax return based on the property’s value.

Donating real estate allows you to make a more significant gift than might be possible with cash or other liquid assets. Such a generous gift provides meaningful support to Banner Health, and can be directed to the medical center, program or area of care that matters most to you.

Another benefit: You don’t have to hassle with selling the real estate yourself. You can deed the property directly to the Foundation, or ask your attorney to add a few sentences in your will or trust agreement.
