Partners in Wellness featuring Child’s Play Charity

02/25/2021

Banner Health Foundation and Banner Alzheimer's Foundation gratefully acknowledge new gifts of $10,000 or more from corporations, foundations, and local community groups that have invested in our organization in the past year through the Partners in Wellness program.

We recently sat down with Child’s Play Charity to learn more about them and their support of our organization.

What drew Child’s Play Charity to support the Child Life program at Banner Children’s at Desert?

Child’s Play Charity first began partnership with Banner Children’s at Desert in 2016 and has now expanded to support all three Banner Children’s medical centers in Arizona. Through the Equipment Grants, funds help hospitals update games and technology they have on-site for children.

How does this charitable investment align with Child’s Play Charity’s goals?

The goal of Child’s Play Charity is to improve the lives of children in hospitals using technology and games. Bringing these avenues of support to Banner Children’s allows us to improve each child’s hospital experience and provide fun distractions during often scary, uncertain health circumstances.

What do you wish everyone knew about Child Life programs?

Whenever Child’s Play Charity team members talk to supporters, we make a point to explain the importance of Child Life programs. These programs exist to meet hospitalized children at age-appropriate levels and help normalize their hospital stay, prepare them for treatment, and provide them with opportunities to play and still be a kid!
