The BIG Outside
The BIG Outside makes room outdoors for kids. And families. And friends.
Thanks to nearly $520,000 raised through the Banner Health Foundation in partnership with donors, board members, community leaders, physicians, patients and families, The BIG Outside opened at Banner Children’s at Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa. The outdoor play space and healing garden for patients and families offers activities to help children keep their minds off treatment. Features include mini golf, a basketball court, an amphitheater for kids’ programs, and a bereavement garden. Also included is The Little Library, where books and magazines for children of all ages are available to borrow or keep.
Young patients can receive rehabilitation therapy or simply enjoy some fresh air and sunshine, and parents can reflect and recharge in the healing garden. Siblings have an upbeat place to spend time with their brothers and sisters, who are hospitalized or receiving treatment. Ongoing support is needed to maintain and enhance The BIG Outside for years to come. If you'd like to help, use the button below to give online.
