The grant will help Banner Telehealth
provide COVID-19 patients with access
to care thanks to its innovative technology.

As COVID-19 cases surge in Arizona, Banner Health continues to meet health care needs by expanding telehealth options utilizing technology that supports safe and effective delivery of care for both the patient and provider.

CVS Health recently awarded a grant to the Banner Health Foundation to support the Banner Telehealth program and its rapid deployment in hospital rooms outfitted for COVID-19 patients.

The grant will underwrite licensing fees and hardware to outfit the special COVID-19 telehealth rooms designated in Banner’s rural hospitals.

The rural community facilities include:

  • Banner Payson Medical Center in Payson, AZ
  • Page Hospital in Page, AZ
  • Banner Casa Grande Medical Center in Casa Grande, AZ
  • East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, CO
  • Sterling Regional MedCenter in Sterling, CO
  • Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, CA
  • Ogallala Community Hospital in Ogallala, NE
  • Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon, NV
  • Community Hospital in Torrington, WY
  • Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, WY
  • Washakie Medical Center in Worland, WY

“Telehealth is merging into mainstream health care, connecting health care specialists to patients without the limitation of space and time,” said Jim Roxburgh, Chief Executive Officer of Banner Telehealth. “We are grateful to the CVS Health for supporting our innovative telehealth platform specific to treating COVID-19 patients. Providing comprehensive health care in rural communities is critical and this investment helps ensure access to timely, patient-centered care.”

This funding makes it possible for patients to be cared for and to interact with their health care team through cameras and speakers installed in their hospital room, allowing physicians and nurses to both monitor and assess the patient without physically entering the virus-exposed area. Telehealth also reduces providers’ risk of exposure to COVID-19, thereby reducing the chance of community spread, and conserves Personal Protective Equipment.
