Adam Goodman, president of Goodmans, has been elected Chairman of the Board for the Banner Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of nonprofit Banner Health in Arizona. He succeeds Steve Hilton, executive chairman for Meritage Homes, who served as Chair since 2020.

Goodmans is a 70-year-old office furniture distributor and specialty contractor of prefabricated architectural interiors. Goodman is the third generation to lead the family business, continuing the tradition of innovation established by his father and grandfather. Under his leadership, the company has become the largest office furniture dealer in the Southwest through the strength of its employees and its offering of leading office furniture, seating, casegoods, and architectural wall solutions.

Goodmans was the first certified Benefit Corporation (B Corp) in Arizona, a legal designation that recognizes its commitment to the community, the environment, and employees. To engage employees and give back, Goodmans has developed unique charitable programs including the Aeron Hockey Tournament, Goodmans Eye for the Good Guy, AIM to Make a Difference, Rooted in Good, GoodART, GoodTHREADS and more. In 2009, the company won the first-ever Arizona Corporate Excellence Award for Community Impact and has been consistently recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the most charitable companies in Phoenix.

“Adam is an inspiring leader whose positive energy and clear vision make him an excellent Chairman for the Banner Health Foundation Board,” says Foundation President & CEO Andy Petersen. “He has brought a fresh perspective to the Board since he was first elected in 2018, actively engaging in Foundation initiatives, leaning into the work of the Board, and infusing meetings with his signature wit and good humor. We are looking forward to working even more closely with him over the next two years as Chairman.”

Goodman currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Phoenix Symphony and the Arizona Center for Investigative Reporting and has held leadership positions with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Phoenix, Arizona Cancer Center, Young Presidents Organization, Phoenix Country Day School, the WP Carey School of Business, the Economic Club of Phoenix, University of Arizona Cancer Center, the Jewish Community Association, and the Herman Miller Certified Dealer Network. In 2018, he won the Greater Phoenix Economic Council's Community Impact Award.

Banner Health Foundation Board members are official volunteer representatives and ambassadors for Banner Health in the community, advancing Banner Health’s mission through philanthropic giving. Goodman will serve a two-year term as Chairman of the Foundation’s 30-member volunteer Board.

“It is an honor to serve as the new Board Chair for Banner Health Foundation. Our Foundation fuels Banner's exceptional work by empowering talented clinicians, researchers and educators who enhance care, pioneer research and train future professionals,” says Goodman. “I am eager to advocate for Banner's vital place in the community and recruit new partners to help us fulfill Banner's vision—making health care easier so life can be better.”

Residents of Paradise Valley, Adam and his wife Stephanie have three children: Ryan, 23, Talia, 21, and Ava, 17.
