Partners in Wellness featuring Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson

08/24/2022

Banner Health Foundation gratefully acknowledges the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson for supporting the 2022 Critical Care Burn program at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson. We recently sat down with their team to learn what inspired their support of Banner Health Foundation through the Partners in Wellness program.

What has been the most meaningful impact in awarding grants to the health care system?

Since its inception, the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson, deeply inspired by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, has always provided health care to the indigent and all in need of health care services to the Tucson community. Despite going through many changes throughout the years, the Catholic Foundation has maintained the rich tradition of serving the poor and indigent and maintaining chaplains to attend to the spiritual needs of patients.

How does this partnership reflect the Catholic Foundation’s philanthropic goals?

Health care plays a vital role in the well-being of those living within our Diocese. Through grants to hospitals, hospice facilities, the fire department, and Catholic Community Services, we aim to be part of the solution by supporting our frontline workers and first responders. The Catholic Foundation has a vision to be a philanthropic leader whose trusted stewardship satisfies our donors’ intentions while meeting the needs of those in our community.

What does the Catholic Foundation hope to accomplish through their investment in Banner Health?

Through a generous donation from the Klinger Estate, an endowment fund was established to provide support to burn research, hospital burn centers, and other burn prevention and educational initiatives. The Catholic Foundation is dedicated to honoring the wishes of the Klingers to support fire prevention and burn awareness education, advocacy, and research, and to improve quality of life for burn survivors within the Diocese of Tucson. A grant from this fund has supported the 2022 Critical Care Burn program at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson this year.
