Expanding Access to Care: West Valley and Scottsdale Cancer Centers
Some 2 million patients have visited the main Banner MD Anderson campus in Gilbert and eight extension clinics since inception in 2011. Expanding access to our highly specialized, disease-specific cancer treatment across the Valley and in Colorado has put world-class cancer care within reach for people from all walks of life, saving countless lives along the way. Philanthropic investment will support Banner MD Anderson’s construction and outfitting of comprehensive cancer centers in the West Valley and Scottsdale — giving more people access to world-class, comprehensive cancer care, clinical trials, and supportive services. Gifts may support capital or programmatic needs.
Integrative Oncology Program

At Banner MD Anderson, we believe in caring for the whole person in mind, body and spirit—not simply treating the disease. Integrative oncology uses a system of health care that fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved. This integrated approach includes analysis of physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values, complementing traditional treatment approaches to address the unique needs of each patient. With philanthropic investment, a variety of programs will be available free of charge to patients at each clinic location. Funding will also support program administrative and growth in the breadth of services offered, including:
- Holistic therapies like massage, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, Reiki, and music therapy.
- Workshops that foster self-expression, disease-specific classes, and support groups that offer emotional healing and cameraderie.
- Survivorship programs offering personalized support and resources to help patients navigate the challenges of life after cancer.
Advanced Diagnostic Technology

Diagnostic imaging is often the first step in a patient’s journey toward diagnosis and treatment. Your support will help Banner Health build out four Valley locations with advanced technology and welcoming environments.
State-of-the-art equipment—including MRI machines, 3D mammography, and bronchoscopy/endoscopy tools—ensures patients receive exceptional care from the start. When malignancies are detected, patients are referred to Banner MD Anderson for comprehensive testing, care, and treatment. Genetic testing and counseling provide insights into individual cancer risk factors, while financial assistance programs offer cost support to qualifying patients.

Breast Cancer Program
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Arizona women and second globally. Banner MD Anderson’s comprehensive breast center serves 22,000 patients annually, providing expert care, treatment, support, and clinical trial access. With philanthropic support, we aim to dramatically reduce breast cancer deaths and treatment burdens through the following expanded services:
Improving Health Outcomes
- Specialized Clinics: The Undiagnosed Breast Clinic provides expedited examination and testing for suspicious breast changes, while the High Risk Breast Clinic serves patients with elevated risk through screening, chemo-prevention, and genetic counseling.
- Enhanced Treatment: Philanthropic funding helps recruit top oncology talent, hire subject matter experts, and continuously train staff in the latest breast cancer developments.
- Research: Our focus on novel biomarkers and imaging for risk prediction requires cutting-edge technology. Meanwhile, clinical trials give patients access to promising new treatments while advancing cancer care.
- Reconstructive Surgery: Innovations in breast reconstruction have greatly improved the results women can achieve following breast cancer surgery. Surgeons at Banner MD Anderson perform the most advanced tissue flap, fat grafting and implant procedures.
Improving Quality of Life
- Lymphedema Clinic: Our microvascular surgeons perform pioneering procedures to reduce the physical and emotional impact of secondary lymphedema. Additional therapists and specialized equipment will expand personalized treatment options.
- Research: Support enables identification of new immunotherapy drugs that harness patients’ own immune systems to fight cancer.
- Supportive Care: Free workshops, educational classes, support groups, and chaplaincy services boost spiritual and mental wellness. Patient navigation coordinates care, appointments, and communication, simplifying the cancer journey.
Gynecologic Cancer Program
Banner MD Anderson’s new Gynecologic Oncology program will address the critical need for comprehensive women’s cancer care, treating cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. Our dedicated team will provide personalized, compassionate care from diagnosis through survivorship, offering advanced treatments including precision robotic surgery for faster recovery and improved outcomes. Philanthropic support enables us to recruit expert gynecologic oncology talent and expand access to advanced therapies. Through state-of-the-art treatments and tailored supportive services, we ensure no woman faces cancer alone.
Head and Neck Cancer Program

Cancers that affect the mouth, throat or other parts of the head and neck are soaring among men under age 50. Ninety percent of these cancers are caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV), with throat cancer rates quadrupling in just the last decade. Despite having an effective HPV vaccine, cancer rates continue to climb, and currently, there is no screening method to detect these cancers early. Patient outcomes with throat cancer could be significantly improved by reducing the amount of patients diagnosed with advanced stage disease.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, HPV infects more than 13 million people annually and causes 47,000 new cases of cancer in men and women every year. Each year in the U.S., more than 11,500 men are diagnosed with oropharynx (back of the throat) cancer. Philanthropic investment supports patient care, targeted treatment, access to the latest in immunotherapy, and research into this rapidly growing group of cancers.
