BAI Tucson welcomes Dr. Matthew Malone to the Lewy Body Dementia program

Banner Alzheimer’s Institute in Tucson is pleased to welcome Matthew Malone, DO, as one of the newest members of our treatment team. Dr. Malone specializes in neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with dementia. His focus will be working patients in the new J. Orin Edson Family Lewy Body Dementia Center and the Parkinson’s program in Tucson.

Spirit of Children is making hospital stays less scary for kids and families

Since 2012, the Spirit of Children organization has been bringing Halloween festivities to life for our youngest patients at Banner Children’s medical centers, providing them with Halloween costumes, accessories, decorations, activities and more. But there’s more to Spirit of Children than just bringing joy through a day of festivities. Each Halloween season, participating Spirit Halloween stores throughout Maricopa and Pinal counties collect cash register donations to benefit Banner Children’s Child Life programs.

The Big Pink Bus: Bringing 3D mammograms to you

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center wants to bring life-saving screening mammograms to more Valley women, especially those in underserved and outlying communities, through a new mobile mammography unit called The Big Pink Bus. This October, Bashas’ Family of Stores has partnered with Banner Health Foundation to support The Big Pink Bus. Bashas’ and Food City customers can support this important initiative by making a donation at the register or by purchasing Bashas’ pink-labeled water bottles. Additionally, they will generously match $50K of the proceeds in both 2021 and 2022.

Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation Grants $330,000 to launch oral-care program at Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix

Delta Dental of Arizona, through its Foundation, has awarded the Banner Health Foundation $330,000 to fund a new Hospital Oral Care and Periodontal Disease Education (HOPE) program at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, an Age-Friendly Healthcare System recognized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

Banner Alzheimer's Institute launches Support Line for patients and families

Thanks to philanthropic investment by the J. Orin Edson family, the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute has launched a new Support Line, a helpline that gives patients and caregivers direct call access to an experienced social worker when in need of resources, support, advice, education, or simply to talk. It is one of four initiatives supported by the Edson family’s $10 million gift to the Banner Alzheimer’s Foundation in 2020.
