Charitable Gift Annuities: Generosity meets security



With a charitable give annuity, the concept is simple: You make a donation using cash, marketable securities or other assets, and we, in turn, pay you a fixed amount for life. And now, if you make your gift by December 31, the gift annuity rates will be an estimated 0.3 to 0.5 percent higher than they will be beginning January 1.

Cyclists focus on El Tour de Tucson's 37th running



When Austin Thacker was just 14, he was diagnosed with stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His chances of survival were less than 50 percent, but he chose to fight. So did his family and the doctors at Diamond Children's Medical Center in Tucson. Now a sophomore at Grand Canyon University, Austin is a strong advocate for pediatric cancer. Having completed a cross-country charity bike ride from Baltimore to Seattle in August, Austin's next ride is the Banner – University Medicine El Tour de Tucson on November 23, three days after his 21st birthday.

Cancer survivor becomes champion for research



This October, Bashas’ Family of Stores has partnered with Banner Health Foundation and Traci Beagley  to support breast cancer research. Bashas’ customers can purchase icons in increments of $1 and $5 to hang in their neighborhood stores, or a case of pink ribbon water bottles. A portion of the proceeds will support the life changing work of doctors like Traci’s physician, Dr. Lida Mina, and the care and recovery of patients like Traci.

$5 million gift from Fulton Family Foundation supports prevention, treatment and research of childhood obesity



The Fulton Family Foundation has made a $5 million gift to the Banner Health Foundation to establish the Dr. Robin Blackstone Childhood Obesity Center of Excellence at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. The Fulton Family Foundation is chaired by longtime Valley homebuilder and philanthropist Ira A. Fulton.

This gift establishes Arizona’s first center of excellence dedicated specifically to pediatric obesity and metabolic disorders—a passion of Mr. Fulton’s based on his own experiences as a patient of Dr. Robin Blackstone, MD, FACS, FASMBS, and the experiences of several of his family members.
