Healing young hearts and minds: Child Life Specialists are the heroes of pediatric care

They reduce child and family stress and support emotional well-being through developmentally appropriate play, education, and therapeutic interventions while helping children understand and prepare for medical procedures.

Banner Health Foundation gratefully acknowledges The Cigna Group Foundation for their support of Banner Children’s Community Clinics Mental Health Initiative. As a Partner in Wellness, their generosity for this program addresses the mental health of the vulnerable population of children served through the Banner Children’s Community Clinics, who face significant barriers to accessing care, including an inability to pay for services, language barriers, transportation difficulties, and inadequate awareness of available community services and resources.

Heart to heart: Banner – University Medical Center celebrates 100 heart transplants

Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix’s Advanced Heart Failure Program recently completed its 100th successful heart transplant since the program started three years ago. It is the only hospital in Arizona with a comprehensive heart failure center and has become one of the busiest artificial heart development centers in the world.
