Cancer specialist receives 10th Banner Health Hero recognition from grateful patients

A new cancer diagnosis and the obstacles faced during treatment can feel overwhelming. Head and lung cancers remain some of the most difficult to treat, yet this challenge draws Dr. Jiaxin Niu, Co-Director of the Lung Cancer program and Associate Director of the Head and Neck Cancer program at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, to his work and to his patients. New hope for Lewy Body Dementia

When Debbie Seplow lost her husband Andy in 2019, it was the end of a journey that began some 15 years earlier when he first developed what she describes as odd behaviors, depression and hallucinations. Andy suffered from Lewy Body Dementia, an aggressive and incurable brain disorder that is the second-leading cause of dementia but is not well understood—and is often misdiagnosed.

Celebrating all abilities, Project SEARCH makes employment dreams possible

Alex* has dreamed of having his own job ever since high school. Getting ready in the morning. Being part of a team. Learning, then contributing his skills to an organization. Because of his autism, Alex doesn’t have the same opportunities to land that dream job as others. But, Project SEARCH opened the door for him and now he is working toward employment at Banner Health as an intern.
